@katecc379 For the first problem: A \(relative\) maximum is a point whose y-coordinate is higher than points on \(either\) side of it. The two ends of the curve are not actually the ends of the curve. They just represent the fact that each end goes up (or down) forever, and these "ends" are \(not\) maxima nor minima.
