OpenStudy (lord2clash):

If you shift the quadratic parent function, F(x) = x2, down 9 units, what is the equation of the new function?

im thinking C but idk lol

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

So making a new function off of a parent function is actually fairly simple :) By moving it down 9 units, you're changing the y-intercept. All parent functions have a meeting point at the origin of the coordinate plane. "Down 9 units" makes it at (0, 9) f(x) = x^2 |dw:1478883916308:dw| H = x K = y So put in the -9 for the k f(x) = x^2 - 9
