when do cell go through the cell cycle and mitosis
There are several reasons a cell will go through the cell cycle. There are three specific reasons: growth, repair, and reproduction. So obviously there is a size difference between babies and adults, babies are much smaller. As children grow up, their cells are dividing faster than they are dying, therefore the child is able to grow. This would be an example of cells going through the cell cycle to grow. Repair is seen when you get a paper cut or scrape your leg. This broken epidermis is repaired by cells going through the cell cycle and helping close the wound. And lastly, reproduction and cells that are used for reproduction are called gametes and are found in the reproductive organs of men and women. These reproductive cells will divide with the purpose to be used for reproduction.
