OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

The person in charge of setting work schedules for the Orlando Parks Department needs to know the average sunrise time during the summer tourist season. Determine the mean sunrise time for the period from May 27th through September 4th using both calculus and brute force methods.

OpenStudy (dukelaxfan):

I have the times and can do it brute force but have no idea how to do calculus methods cause im in pre calc

OpenStudy (mathmate):

I suspect that if you do it by calculus, you are expected to approximate the sunrise times with a function, probably a harmonic function like sine or cosine. Then you can integrate to get the area below the curve, and divide by the number of days in the period to get the average. In fact, the part approximating with a function is more challenging than the integration part, but interesting.

@mathmate ok thank you
