OpenStudy (sabasattar):

Can someone please help me use technology to determine P(p̂ ≤ 0.081). The answer is 0.244 but I do not know how to input it in a calculator.

OpenStudy (phi):

Can you post the rest of the info ?

OpenStudy (sabasattar):

Here's another question but the same problem that needs to be solved

OpenStudy (sabasattar):

The letter "t" makes up an estimated 15% of a certain language. Assume this is still correct. A random sample of 1500 letters is taken from a randomly selected, large book and the t's are counted. Find the approximate probability that the random sample of 1500 letters will contain 13.5% or fewer t's.

OpenStudy (sabasattar):

First, I found the standard error which is 0.009 from the formula: square root P(1-p)/n

OpenStudy (sabasattar):

But I do not know how to compute the probability for: P(p̂≤0.135) using technology. Could you please help me?

OpenStudy (sabasattar):

The answer is supposed to be 0.048 but I do not know how to work out the probability.

OpenStudy (phi):

This site can do that http://davidmlane.com/hyperstat/z_table.html put in 0.15 for the mean 0.009 for SD select "less than" and put in 0.135

OpenStudy (sabasattar):

Thank you so much! How did you find the mean?

OpenStudy (phi):

it should look like this

OpenStudy (phi):

The letter "t" makes up an estimated 15% of a certain language.--> 0.15 is the mean

OpenStudy (sabasattar):

Oh I see! Thank you again!
