Was Imperialism good or evil?

Imperialism was good in that it gave incentive for explorers to go out, and in turn led to development in technology (such as ships).

However, imperialism led cultural blending and also to slavery being established, and racism soon followed. So it's both good and bad in a way.

Personally I would lean to it being bad though...since imperialism established rivalries and many people that would have normally been peacefully where they were got their lives taken (crossfire of the such).
