Please help me with this question, I'm not sure how to find what P1 is :> Thank you :3 I will give you a shiny medal :3 :>

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

whats the question

OpenStudy (lacris):

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

and what do yo need help calculating?

OpenStudy (lacris):

I want to find the expected value, but I don't know what the probability is for the question :<

OpenStudy (lacris):

expected count is pi (n) = E

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

look at your H0

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

it says its uniformally distrubuted

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

so the probability is 25% for each category

OpenStudy (lacris):

H0: The distribution of hockey players' birth months is uniformly distributed. H1: The distribution of hockey players' birth months is not uniformly distributed.

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

so you just count the totla number and take 1/4 of that

OpenStudy (lacris):

why is it 1/4 (25%)? Is it because of the months?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

yes, and to be more accurate, it because there are 4 categories

OpenStudy (lacris):

so: January-March is one category 1 April-June is the second category 2 July-September is the third category 3 October-December is the forth category?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

yes, and because each category must have equal probability accroding to H0, each of them is a 25%
