which answer is a solution to the inequality? 3x+y>-8 A. (-3 , 0) B. (-2 , -1) C. (0 , -10) D. (2 , -16)
i will metal
You can input or graph and see where it passes (though most choose the first option). \(\huge\bf{3(-3)+0>-8}\) \(\huge\bf{3(-2)+(-1)>-8}\) \(\huge\bf{3(0)+(-10)>-8}\) \(\huge\bf{3(2)+(-16)>-8}\)
Whichever is true is the answer.
i dont know how to do that thats why i posted it on openstudy so youll could help me
i know how to put numbers on a graph i just dont know wha numbers to put on there
Just simplify. \(\huge\bf{3(-3) = -9}\) \(\huge\bf{-9 + 0 >-8 \rightarrow -9 > -8}\) A is not the answer due to the fact `-9` is less than `-8`.
@Will.H
ok
We apply the same process to the next one. \(\huge\bf{3(-2) = -6}\) \(\huge\bf{-6+(-1)>-8 \rightarrow \color{red}{-7>-8}}\) Is this true?
yes its true
so B is the answer?
So that would be your answer :)
simple hacks for such question are to put the co-ordinates in the options in the equation and see which one hold true...
thank you:) i have 4 more if you want to help ill be posting them in a sec.
We input due to the fact corrdinates are in the form of \(\large\bf{(x,y)}\) so we input the value of `x` where `x` is in the equation, this also applies with y though we plug with y.
