Why do we have to use a cloning vector at all? I mean, I know it is used to get a bigger amount of the plasmid, but this plasmid doesn't contain the gene of interest and it also doesn't have things like RBS, fusion tags etc. Can't we just use the expression vector and amplify it. It also has got an Ori, so that's not a problem. Maybe I haven't grasped in which cases both vectors are used and this is where my confusion comes. Why amplipying something without gene of interest?
