Can someone check my work on this problem?

OpenStudy (asdfghj8):

\[f(x)=-3x+2 \] f(x) = 7 \[g(x)=3x ^{3} +5\] g(x) = -4

OpenStudy (asdfghj8):

i got f(x) = -19 and g(x) = -187

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I think you meant f(x)=-3x+2 is to be evaluated at x=7. f(x)=-3x+2 defines the function; x=7 defines the x value at which you are to evaluate the function. f(7)=-3(7)+2 is indeed -21+2, or -19. Good job.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Likewise, \[g(x)=3x ^{3} +5\] is to be evaluated at x=-4. Write g(-4) = 3(-4)^3+5. What is 3(-64)+5?
