We are indicated that two sides are equal. Due to this two angles are congruent as well since it is an isosceles triangle.
\(\huge\bf{ \angle A = \angle B}\)
Substitute.
\(\huge\bf{34=x-5}\)
Simplify to find x.
OpenStudy (princeevee):
were finding Y...
OpenStudy (will.h):
X - 5 = 34 (isosceles triangle)
X = 39
Now
Sum of triangle theorem
34 + 34 + 4y = 180
4y = 112
Y = 28

@Will.H
OpenStudy (will.h):
Isosceles triangle
2x + 7 = 4x - 7
Solve for X and find the values of the sides
14 = 2x
7 = x
Therefore we now can find length of BC by substituting x = 7
BC = 4x
BC = 4(7)
BC = 28

thanks,
