In a contract, what is consideration ?

OpenStudy (bugman954):

Consideration is something of value going to one party. In general, a contract is not enforceable without consideration going to both sides. Example: in an employment contract the employer gets a work and the employee gets money and hopefully benefits. A contract to buy a car the buyer gets a car and the seller gets money and possibly a trade-in.
