Which graph represents the solution set to the system of inequalities?

OpenStudy (cazeh):

? What graph

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

OpenStudy (cazeh):

1. Is unkown 2.2/7 y =3 +2

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

..? im not understanding

OpenStudy (cazeh):

This is all i can help. I did it on my cal this was the answer

OpenStudy (maddielb):

Well we know that the graph on the top right cannot be the answer, since you have a < and a greater than or equal to you will have 1 solid line and 1 dotted line.

OpenStudy (maddielb):

And we can also rule out the bottom left one because the slope for the first equation is negative, and that is showing a positive slope

OpenStudy (maddielb):

Following me so far?

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

yes! thats what i thought, that the top right wasnt a possible answer. and i understand what you mean about the slope

OpenStudy (maddielb):

Alright great!

OpenStudy (cazeh):

!

OpenStudy (maddielb):

Okay, so with the first equation it is less than so the it will be filled in to the left of the line for that equation, and for the second equation it us greater than or less than so it will be filled in above the line for that equation. So which graph fits what I have just said?

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

i think the first option fits

OpenStudy (maddielb):

Not quite, that graph would show the first equation being greater than, and in this equation it is less than, so your answer would be the bottom right graph

OpenStudy (mouth4war):

i think i get it...thank you for explaining :)

OpenStudy (maddielb):

You're welcome
