Muscle tissue basically requires ATP for contraction and relaxation, that is both in the formation and breakage of cross links between the actin and myosin components. Thus lack of ATP would result in fatigue of the muscle. However if the muscle is already in the contracted state the lack of ATP can result in sustained contraction. This is seen in case of rigor mortis, where the muscles of a dead person remain in their contracted state due to the absence of ATP.
