First x in parentheses one: pair it up with the x in parentheses two and the number 2 in parentheses 2!
Like this: x^2+2x
Then, pair up the 1 in parentheses one with the x in parentheses two and 2 in parentheses two!
Like this: x+2
Here's how:

You now have...
x^2+2x+x+2
Combine like terms.
x^2+3x+2
