Atsie (atsie):

If there is an increase in phytoplankton in a given area, what would be the likely consequences? A) The number of zooplankton would increase in the area B) The biomass of the area would increase C) The productivity of the area would increase D) All of these E) None of these

Elsa213 (elsa213):

What do you believe the correct answer is?

Atsie (atsie):

Firstly, can you explain phytoplanketon to me?

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Phytoplankton-microscopic marine plants

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Google: Phytoplankton are the autotrophic components of the plankton community and a key part of oceans, seas and freshwater basin ecosystems.

Atsie (atsie):

My pick is B, but I'm not sure if its correct. Biomass originally refers to the total amount of living matter, plant, and animal in a given area or ecosystem. But whats gets me is the fact that I don't know if that really is a consequence of increased phytoplankton or not.

Elsa213 (elsa213):

There's more than one correct answer. o:

Elsa213 (elsa213):

You can eliminate E though.

Atsie (atsie):

I can only pick one answer though. :/

Elsa213 (elsa213):

If there's more than one answer correct, the answer would be D.

Atsie (atsie):

Ooo, I guess your right. <3 I didn't think any of em really fit, but I suppose its entirely possible given the definition of phytoplankton

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Great Job though <3 :3

Atsie (atsie):

Thank you!! ♥ Can I have you help me with one more?

Elsa213 (elsa213):

I can try o:

Atsie (atsie):

A Zorse is the offspring of a female horse and a male Zebra. Zorses are sterile and cannot reproduce. Is a zorse a species? Why or why not? Be sure to include a definition of species in your answer. ^uhh, I don't know how to start on that one.

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Woahh That's toughz.. e.e I do not believe a 'zorse' is a species because,

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Well they can't reproduce.. e.e it's like saying a female cat and male dog which would create a 'cog' or 'dat'. Can a male dog create babies with a cat?

Atsie (atsie):

Um, tbh I don't think so A uh.... "dat" would be outa the question LOL

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Waitttt Zorse exists e.e I used google cx I never knew thatt

Atsie (atsie):

Hmm, if a Zorse is sterile and cannot reproduce then wouldn't that make it NOT a species? Or does that not count? :/

Elsa213 (elsa213):

That's what I thoughtt

Atsie (atsie):

Species definition --> " a group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals capable of exchanging genes or interbreeding. " Interbreeding means to mate with something else that isn't the same....right? um...

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Well we learned something new from this difficult question that has not been answered yett

Atsie (atsie):

Mhm, precisely. Okay, so I can put that Zorse isn't a species because they cannot reproduce....but how does that mix with the definition of "species" and the whole interbreeding thing.....whatever interbreeding means.

Elsa213 (elsa213):

interbreed- Mate with a different race

Atsie (atsie):

*facepalm* then it doesn't make sense. I can't put that after all.....because if a Zorse....can't reproduce.............wait, apparently Zorse IS a species?

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Horse+Zebra= Interbreed And yerpp it's a species e.e

Elsa213 (elsa213):

The Zorse is rare though It's rare because it can't reproduce..

Atsie (atsie):

I think you just helped me more than you can even realize! Thank you so much!! <33

Elsa213 (elsa213):

I did? o: woee e.e Well if it weren't for you, I would have never realized a Zorse existed. <33 Thank yew :D

Atsie (atsie):

Yes, you did! I realize what I need to write down now, but it just took some connection with another brain to help figure it out. We both learned about Zorses! Yayy! xDD

Elsa213 (elsa213):

cx Hopefully you pass the question though :p

Atsie (atsie):

I hope so to! xD So far on my last two exams, I've received nothing but D's.

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Awe ;-; That sux >.<

Atsie (atsie):

Yeh, quite depressing but I'm determined to power through. c:

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Goodi. :3
