The base of a triangle is represented by (2x − 6) and the height by (x − 2). Which polynomial expression BEST represents the area of the triangle?

OpenStudy (catpidigm):

These kind of questions are really hard for me. If anyone could explain the process while answering the questions, that would be SO helpful.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What is the formula for the area of a triangle, given Base and Height?

OpenStudy (catpidigm):

I know 1/3 is in the equation.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

?? Area of Triangle = ½ * Base * Height

OpenStudy (catpidigm):

Oh.. it's A = 1/2bh, not 1/3.... (at least that's what Google said)

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You are given both Base and Height. Substitute the known expressions intot he formula.

OpenStudy (catpidigm):

So base would be 1x - 3 and height would be x-1?
