Wild guess again ...
third down based on the word DEPENDENT in the q and the word BECAUSE in the sentence.
Heaven knows, though, WHY a crowd should go wild because J makes a basket ... so the logic doesn't look right, but that's how I'd link what I think I've just seen.

I think that the first one also makes some sense. The semi colon separates out the two actions of making and going wild and implies - were the reader reading it with a tooth pick to guide the detail - that J is basketting and a crowd is going wild, P'raps somewhere else there's a cricket match going on, or a pop group performing ...
