Ah, the controversial Irish poet Oscar Wilde. There is a quote somewhere "I have nothing to declare except my genius" or some such. I THINK the quote is attributed to Wilde. ******* My guess at what he means in the poem. "me kneeling On the threshold of the House of Fame" suggests to me that OW reckons that he's destined for fame. He's perhaps a young poet, he's just been in the company of other poets, in very nice surroundings and found he quite likes it. He reckons his chances of becoming a famous poet/playwright are pretty high. Basically, he fancies himself.
