WILL FAN AND MEDAL! I need to find a poem by a PUBLISHED AUTHOR/POET the pertains to one of the following themes: - The collective is more important than the individual - You need to give up freedom to live in perfect happiness Please help, I've looked everywhere!
POSSIBLY the first one, and the world war 1 poem "For The Fallen" by Lawrence Binyon. It's about the blood letting that occurred on The Somme and MAY get somewhere near fitting part of the requirements.
@osprey , it's not quite what I am looking for, but I greatly appreciate you replying!
@asc.bchs I was thinking that any soldier who tried to be individual in the battle would be "disciplined" shall we say (cowardice ?) whereas the armies were capable of allowing the slaughter of the collective. Not happy stuff, I accept, but as it happens I like the poem so I thought I'd give it a whirl.
I had a hard time seeing the theme in it, but I have to agree with you that it is a good poem. I think I may have found one that is good, but thanks for your help again! I will still award you a medal🙂
you're welcome in your eloquence ... what was the poem that you found ?
The Greater Good Nat Norland :) It also pertained to the plot in a slight way, so I decided to use it. @osprey
