seaseasea Factoring the following by using the grouping method and identify one of the factors below: 28xy − 154x + 20y − 110? A. x − 4 B. 7x + 4 C. 7x − 11 D. 2y − 11 Please explain how you've gotten the answer or explain what I have to do to get the answer. Thanks. ^^
The is a case where you can group the xy term with either the x or the y term, take out the common factor and everything will fall in place (if the expression is factorizable).
(28xy − 154x) + (20y − 110) =14x(2y-11) + 10(2y-11) = ?
(2y-11) (14x + 10)
Wait, there is another common factor in 14x+10. That has to be taken out as well.
2(7x+5)
Actually, that "2" should have been taken out before we even began! So the final result looks like ....?
Thank you for all the help you've given me! Oh, and sorry for upvoting so late. ;o;
@seaseasea Thank you for the upvote. It is very much appreciated, even though that is not the primary motivation to helping.
