OpenStudy (big_mike_lifting):

What is the length of line segment VZ?

OpenStudy (big_mike_lifting):

OpenStudy (ivitt):

Give me a second! I think I might remember what to do. :)

OpenStudy (big_mike_lifting):

No problem, take your time, lol. I'm on this chapter in my class, and I don't understand a single bit of it.

OpenStudy (ivitt):

Okay, so what you need to do is take both equations and put them together like this: \[3x+4=5x\] Then solve for x.

OpenStudy (big_mike_lifting):

x=2

OpenStudy (ivitt):

Correct!

OpenStudy (big_mike_lifting):

So, is it ten since the lengths are equidistant from each other?

OpenStudy (ivitt):

Um, no. It wouldn't be 10 since it's asking for the length of line VZ. and line VZ is congruent to TZ and ZU, thus making it 2 and not 10.

OpenStudy (big_mike_lifting):

It's asking for the line's length though, not the value of x.

OpenStudy (poto):

I think what she is trying to say is that the length is the value of x. and thats why they give u 5x and 3x+4
