OpenStudy (squishy):

is this relation a function yes or no {(3,-1),(-1,-4),(-4,6),(6,-1)} openstudy

OpenStudy (rachel.frank40):

To determine if you have a function you want to make sure that the x values (the first ones in the ordered pair) are unique and linked to only one other y value (the second value of the ordered pair). So are all the x values different?

OpenStudy (sanoofy):

Yes b/c all the x values (input) have one y-value (output), so yes it is. Even if 2 x values (inputs) have the same output for ex: (5.4) (6.4) it is ok. But as long as one input doesn't have 2 outputs ex: (5.4) (5.5), then its a function.
