Well if the ordered pairs that you have are (-4, -1) and (0, 2) and you are asked what is the value of the function when x=-4 you just have to look at the y value for the ordered pair when x=-4.

yep.  if you have an ordered pair and are asked what the value of the function is, all it is asking you is what the y value is at a specific x value
