OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

Marie took public transportation to see her grandmother. Her train fare was $1.75, then she transferred to a bus, which cost $0.25. She didn't feel like walking from the bus stop to her grandmother's house, so she took a cab the rest of the way, which cost $5.50 plus a $1.50 tip. If she uses all of the same transportation on the way home, what will be the total cost of her round trip journey? Explain your answer.

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

So what is your strategy for solving this problem?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

I forget lol

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

Well try. What is this problem asking for?

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

I believe in your skill. I know you know how to solve this :)

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

Well you are going to want to add up what her total trip costs going one way (aka- add up all the numbers in the word problem) and then multiply by 2 because it is a roundtrip

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

$18???? @brittanyrolfe

OpenStudy (aasthasalo):

Yes

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):
