OpenStudy (maxwellfish):

a function is a relationship or expression involving one or more variables. the function (bx + c)

OpenStudy (tteesstt8080):

A function: One input must ONLY have ONE, and ONLY ONE output. One output can't have two inputs. And it must have, like MaxwellFish said above, like (bx+c)

OpenStudy (tteesstt8080):

Although several inputs can have the same output

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Try using the "vertical line test." Draw the graph of each relationship, and then draw a vertical line thru the graph. If the line intersects the graph just once, you've got a function. Otherwise you don't. If you were to draw a circle and then draw a vertical line thru the graph, the line would intersect the circle how many times? Is the relation exemplified by the circle a function or not? Why?
