no, the answer is not 86 hint: the 47 degree angle and angle 'a' add up to 90 degrees, ie, a+47 = 90
If its a right triangle, that means that one angle is 90, and the other two equal 90. So like jim said, a+47=90, and a should be 43.

There is two traingles in this big traingle. If they both have a right angle and "a" in common, that means that angle R must be 47 degrees as well. Now, we have |dw:1480210468778:dw|
Now, since the sum of the angles in a triangle is 180 degrees, you add 47 and 47 and subtract it by 180 180-47-47=86 This means that the top part is equal to 86 degrees. |dw:1480210550788:dw|
