Well, a split infinitive is something along the lines of to quickly walk, to slowly eat. It is when an adverb is placed between "to" and the bare infinitive of a verb.

Didn't "Star Trek" corner the market of split inifnitives with "To BOLDLY go" where boldly splits the infinitive of "To go" ?

ps I think that the word BOLDLY is an adverb. ad verb = modifies the verb. So, cpt kirk and mates didn't go TIMIDLY, nor even "didn't timidly go", they went boldly. Reputedly at the speed of light, if Mr Scott's engines worked properly that is.
Whether you could say that "splitting the infinitive" helps with a sense of drama is another matter. To the person who likes to "dot the is and cross the ts", the possible shock of the split infinitive might add to the drama. There's also Mr Shatner's voiceover drama also.

I'm drawing attention to the adverb to try to contrast it with the adjective. 
If the word "good" is an adjective, it describes a noun.
So "how are you ?" "I'm good" seems to suggest that the answer is more to do with how nice the answerer is, rather than how they actually are. "I'm fine", or "I'm well" seem to contain adverbs which describe the verb "to be". 
I'm good is used a lot in modern day speak - is why i mention it here.
