OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

Why does Prospero, from the Tempest, forgive his brother Antonio? Is it to regain power in Milan? Or was he genuinely being a good person when he decided this?

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

i agree with the first statement. I mean, even at the end, Prospero still considers Antonio a "most wicked sir," even in Act 5! So he's probably just showing Antonio forgiveness now that he has his power back and now that it's convenient for him to forgive. So basically Prospero may forgive, but he has no sincerity whatsoever.

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

So you are saying that "yes" it is to regain his power?

OpenStudy (brittanyrolfe):

Does he ultimately regain power as Duke of Milan? @Jamierox4ev3r

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

I believe so.
