Help??
Which underlined vocabular word is incorrect? Katy was hired for the position based on her intellectual abilities and her "congenial" personality. B. The teacher continued without the slightest "perturbation," as hailed pelted against the windows. C. Jason gaev a "deliberately answer, which resulted in a large uproar from the class
does C actually say "deliberately" or was that a typo?
just out of curiosity, are they trying to teach you certain words? I'm noticing repetition in some of these
I see. Well, like I said you can substitute the words for their definitions if it helps. Perturbation means a deviation of a system, moving object, or process from its regular or normal state of path, caused by an outside influence. So B sounds correct because he kept teaching without getting distracted by the hail.
and for short congenial means friendly or likable so I believe A is correct too because she was hired for her "likable" personality. that leaves C
A. Since Sophie was 'delberately' late for class, she decided get there as quickly as she could. B. The new history teacher was well-liked because she was 'congenial' as well as knowledgeable C. Jim took a piece of pie with 'misgiving'; he was full, but he didn't want to offend his host
ok based on the past questions we know that B is correct
we have a new word with this one I see. Misgiving can be defined as a feeling of doubt or apprehension about the outcome or consequences of something. Also known as having reservations about something. It says that he was full but he didn't want to offend his host. So I would say that he was feeling some reservation about eating another piece of pie On the other hand, it says Sophie was deliberately late for class. this means she was late on purpose. If she were late on purpose I don't think she would have bothered to "get there as quickly as she could."
I think you were right with A
it says Sophie was deliberately late for class but then it says because of that she decided to get there as quickly as she could. If she had been late on purpose she wouldn't have chosen to get to her class as fast as she could. the statements contradict each other so A has to be the one that is incorrect
Yeah, it was A
