What is programming and how does it relate to computer science?
Computer Science is the study of what computers can do, wheras programming is the practice of making computers do things. Naturally this means programming is part of Computer Science, but it's certainly not all it is.
Computer science is the science behind computers. However, computer science also involves collaboration, problem solving, creativity, and many more aspects. Programming is naturally just the code that will allow computers to complete tasks. Computers are actually really stupid, so programmers tell them what to do.
y bother asking that ?
@ian890 People keep saying computers are stupid to make a point. I don't know why I don't like that. Imagine when a computer runs a program, that they are a bunch of elementary school students that are S U P E R fast at doing their job. They all do very very basic things. Looots of very very basic things. When you program, you tell those elementary students what to do. The language to interact with those kids directly is assembly language, but higher level languages go above that, a program handles telling the kids stuff, and you can speak with this program instead, in a more advanced manner. See computers are not stupid because you tell them what to do. Those instructions are all they know how to do. So you can only tell them to do what they know to do. I guess this analogy comes from the fact that computers lack the ability to really "speak" as you program them. or understand "common sense." I don't know. I still don't like it.
Great comments everyone.
