OpenStudy (studyhoney):

Explain why the two figures below are not similar. Use complete sentences and provide evidence to support your explanation. http://prnt.sc/ddvak9

OpenStudy (sooobored):

similar means that all respective angles must be equivalent to each other or the respective distances share a single ratio/proportion

OpenStudy (studyhoney):

yes i know.. but idk why these aren't similar

OpenStudy (seratul):

By what @sooobored said, you need to look at the measure of the angles and compare them. For example, Angle IHG in the smaller figure is 90 degrees, while angle CBA is a little over 90 degrees. Therefore, they aren't similar. I didn't really do any calculations, I just figured it out by looking at it. You should try to give a more solid proof on why they aren't similar. Comparing slopes/angles is the key.

OpenStudy (seratul):

The slope also remains the same so you should use the slope formula.

OpenStudy (studyhoney):

i don't know how to do that

OpenStudy (tackopp):

Slope formula: m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

OpenStudy (tackopp):

To find the slope, you divide the difference of the y-coordinates of a point on a line by the difference of the x-coordinates.
