OpenStudy (brew916):

A bathtub is being drained so that a linear function describes the amount of water left after "x" minutes. The tub held 15 gallons before it drained. It took 20 minutes to empty. What rate is it being drained?

OpenStudy (3mar):

Need help @Brew916 ?

OpenStudy (brew916):

Yes please

OpenStudy (3mar):

That is with my pleasure! Any ideas you have?

OpenStudy (brew916):

I'm stumped

OpenStudy (brew916):

3/4?

OpenStudy (3mar):

"A bathtub is being drained so that a linear function describes the amount of water left after "x" minutes." So our function that describe the process would be in the form \(\LARGE y=mx+b\)

OpenStudy (brew916):

Ok, I'm still a little confused

OpenStudy (3mar):

We did not finish yet, brother! First we would better to define y and x: y: the amount of water left x: time (in minutes) from the start of the process of draining!

OpenStudy (3mar):

|dw:1480603853782:dw| after 20 minutes: |dw:1480603973099:dw|
