OpenStudy (ethan22):

hope this helped!

OpenStudy (osprey):

all of them. anything that's not a vacuum will allow a wave to pass. The SHOCK comes if you bang it hard enough in the right way. in solids, what's an earth quake and it's various after shocks/tremors but a shockwave. When the house collapses, you get different sort of shock (if you're lucky enough to survive the quake, that is). If you're near a heavy duty military cannon when it goes off, the air/sound shock wave can knock you over. And slam doors (I did some work on a mil gun range once, and the cannon testing was impressively scary).
