Question about trig

OpenStudy (steve816):

\[\large \sin^n(x)+\cos^n(x)=1\] if n is even, is this always true?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Hmm I don't think it's true for any n except n=2, is it? :O Thinking...

OpenStudy (steve816):

And n > 0

OpenStudy (avi13):

it is true for 0<n<=2..... for n>2 sin^n+cos^n <1

OpenStudy (avi13):

i guess so...get confirmed

zepdrix (zepdrix):

And n>0 ... ? what? There are no even numbers been 0 and 2. I don't understand what you're saying.

OpenStudy (steve816):

no I just meant any even number that was greater than 0. So I guess it isn't true then!

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Ya I don't so :) Cool question though.
