It is ten because it is right across the other ten angle. Easier way to explain it.

oh wow that's brilliant but not even close to be true
besides in geometry there is no postulate not Theorem that says the measure of angle in triangle is the same of the angle in the other triangle that is across of the 1st angle... hmm. if you meant the theorem that says if 2 parallel lines cut by transversal then the Alternate interior angles are congruent.. that's not the case here

This questions tricky. The angle across is 40 as well being cut by an angle so 40+40 =80 in which they lie on a straight line so 180-80=100.

Explanation:

The 2nd angle in the triangle is 50 because it is vertical angle with the angle 50 (in the other triangle)

and the 3rd angle is 100 by definition of straight line angle
100 + 40 + 40 = 180

therefor
100 + 50 + x = 180
x = 30
