The purpose of any simple machine is to allow a job to be done with less force than would normally be needed. However, when a string of simple machines are added together to accomplish a task, the overall efficiency of the machine decreases. Write a brief essay explaining why the efficiency of a complex machine decreases as more simple machines are used. Be sure to include a discussion on the Conservation of Energy in your explanation.

Um.........

@vipulrakta ?

OpenStudy (vipulrakta):

A simple machine is a mechanical device that changes the direction or magnitude of a force All real machines have friction, which causes some of the input power to be dissipated as heat. the power lost to friction as the consequences of conservation of energy... if yo go deeper to the physics the conservation law plays an crucial role . you can undestand simply that whan u drop the ball from some hight after rebound it never go up from hight h .

I like what vipurakta says.

OpenStudy (aspenmurillo):

yeah i dont think that has anything to do with what i asked

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

yep, i think it explains your conundrum very well each machine is inefficient, has it's own friction. Add them all up you get a bucket load of friction sitting between your input and your output. Though experiment, take 2 machines. 2 levers, say. Machine A gears up, Machine B gears down. Connect 500 of each of them in this order A-B-A-B......A-B-A-B, and you get the friction of 1,000 machines with no net gearing..

This reminds me of an OK GO video.
