@jamierox4ev3r Question 19 (Multiple Choice Worth 1 points) (03.01 LC) The domain of the following relation: R: {(3, 5), (8, 6), (2, 1), (8, 6)} is No domain exists {1, 5, 6} {3, 8, 2, 8} {2, 3, 8}

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You are given a relation (above), represented by four pairs of x- and y-coordinates. In such a situation, you have a function IF AND ONLY IF for each x value there is one and only one corresponding y value. So, what do you think? Is the given relationship a function or not?

OpenStudy (mrs.ambrose614):

Would then wiser be c???

OpenStudy (triciaal):

Domain set of x-values only need to list once (8, 6) is a duplicate entry I would choose D

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I agree with triciaal. (8,6) shows up twice. Ordinarily I'd cry foul! But here the same y-value (6) is associated with the x-value 8, so this relationship appears to be one to one, and thus is a function.
