OpenStudy (bananas1234):

Which number is between 1/7 and and 0.2?

hero (hero):

@Bananas1234 do you know how to write 0.2 as a fraction?

OpenStudy (bananas1234):

2/10, then reduce it to 1/5 @Hero

hero (hero):

Okay great, which means now we have 1/7 and 1/5 to work with and we need to find the fraction between them. Do you know how to find the least common multiple of 5 and 7?

OpenStudy (bananas1234):

hmmm im not sure

hero (hero):

Basically all you do is keep finding multiples of both 5 and 7 until you find a number that is a multiple of both. For example: Suppose I wanted to find the least common multiple of 3 and 8, I would double both numbers, then triple both numbers, then quadruple both numbers (if necessary), etc until I found a number common to both: 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,`24` 8,16,`24` As you can see, as a result we see that 24 is the least common multiple of 3 and 8.

Wasn't there a list of four possible answers? If so, please share that list now. I'm curious whether these four possible answers are in the form of rational fractions or decimal fractions.

OpenStudy (bananas1234):

9/35, 6/35, 2/9, or 1/9

OpenStudy (bananas1234):

A? @triciaal
