OpenStudy (zyberg):

Is there a non brute force method to find a missing arithmetic sign? For example: 8 # 2 = 4. It is easy to see that # must be division symbol (/), however what to do for bigger numbers? Or how to prove that there exists such symbol that could be placed instead of # to prove equality right?

OpenStudy (amorfide):

you will always have to work through the question, and figure it out. So this i assume would be brute force. You can't just look at it and say oh that is definitely divison, you would have to do some form of calculation to confirm it hence there is no non brute force method
