OpenStudy (osprey):
on a stretched string, NO DISPLACEMENT, if the string has a standing wave on it. in an experiment called Kundt's tube (after a german scientist), air is set into resonance by a sound wave. there is also talcum powder or something like it in the tube. Where there are NODES the talc tends to gather 'cos there's nothing to disturb it. Antinodes are maximum displacement points.
