PLEASE HELP WILL FAN AND MEDAL!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! OR TELL ME HOW TO SOLVE THIS :) The size of a TV screen is given by the length of its diagonal. The screen aspect ratio is the ratio of its width to its height. The screen aspect ratio of a plasma television screen is 16 : 9. To the nearest tenth of an inch, what is the height of a 50 inch plasma television screen with this ratio?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I'd suggest you sketch this TV screen, indicating that the length of its diagonal is D. How is D related to the lengths of the bottom of the screen and the side of the screen, respectively? Label your sketch.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Note that length:width is in the ratio 16:9. that means that if the length is 16, the height must be 9, so if the length is 32, the height must be 18. And so on.
