Yesterday took place one of Americas darkest hours apart from 9/11. The lives of our fellow ancestors that were savagely taken away from their own lives and families in Hawaii.... this day was well known as "Pearl Harbor" when the Japanese came to a Navy Base Yard in Hawaii and took the lives of many civilians and american sailors.

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

Those nukes were not personal it was more for the purpose of making Japan surrender .-. they wanted to keep attacking us ^.^ so we started nuking them... finally they surrendered. If it wasn't for the nukes... they would of kept going.

"Mess with the Best, Die like the Rest"

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

The nukes were in a way, quite peaceful. When the US invaded Okinawa and other major islands around Japan, they saw a colossal death toll among their ranks(the US). An invasion of the Japan mainland would have likely brought on death tolls far beyond what the Americans were willing to take. So instead they make a power play on the country that attacked them first, and had also been expanding relentlessly into the Pacific invading various peaceful countries for resources and land. They told Japan of the power we held, and we could use it again and again with limited loss on our side and multitudes on theirs. A dragged out war would have been one on the mainland and the US showed their willingness to use the most powerful weapon in the world, so thus, a surrender, most likely saving millions of lives(on both sides) if instead an invasion had been done.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

But really, I would not be so cold-hearten towards the Japanese. A couple years ago I watched an HBO miniseries/documentary called "The Pacific," following the war of US against Japan, from various American soldiers perspectives(third person unlimited). There were some humbling scenes. **Spoilers** If you want to watch it, don't read. Such as when a Japanese soldier got caught out after his group was slaughtered and the Americans were shooting purposely in the water, "missing," knowing he couldn't make it anywhere far. Here they were, torturing a man who by the way, make Japanese civilians were forced into war, away from there families. One of the soldiers that the miniseries was following saw this, and killed the man. War is cold, but it doesn't need to be any colder. Another humbling scene was when U.S. soldiers were exploring a village they had pushed Japanese soldiers out of. One of them heard a baby crying, went to explore. Found an old Japanese lady and a baby. The lady pleads with the soldier to take the baby, and eventually he does. Then she drops a grenade(with the pin still in) that the Japanese soldiers had given her, wanting her to commit suicide, taking some soldiers that were lured in by the babies cries. But did she, no. I say this because of "Bastards had it coming ;) " and "Something called "Revenge" you should look it up ^.^" The Japanese didn't deserve this. The emperor and those who chose to side with Germany and Italy deserved judgement.

God bless The United States of America. In remembrance of the men who died defending the USA 75 years ago. We give salute.
