Consider a fishing boat with two engines. Engine #1 provides a thrust force of 200N on the boat and Engine#2 provides a thrust force of 175N on the boat. Water is also exerting a drag force of 75N on the boat. If the mass of the boat is 1000kg, what is the accleration of the boat?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

if i draw this, i expect you to nail it :) |dw:1481234964104:dw|

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

\(F = ma\) for F: 375 to the right, 75 to the left mass = 1000

OpenStudy (shivanand_chikkalli):

E(1) = 200N --> E(2) = 175N --> W = 75N <-- m(boat) = 1000 Kg Resultant Force on boat is 200+175-75 = 300N F = m.a a = F / m a= 300N / 1000 Kg a = 0.3 m/s2
