what is the meaning of positive connotation and negative connotation?

OpenStudy (kamek):

Connotation is the emotional hand imaginative association surrounding a word. To put it in simpler words: It is the implied or suggested meaning. Now Negative connotation is when the word implies something negative or is informal. Positive Connotation implies Positivity or is formal

Hi, Skypie13. One time I ate some expired sour cream and got food poisoning. Now the words "sour cream" have a negative connotation for me. For many people, Mondays have a negative connotation because it's the beginning of the work/school week, but Fridays have a positive connotation because it's the END of the week and the beginning of the weekend. Yay! So basically, if a word, activity, show, song, etc. makes you happy, it has a positive connotation and if it makes you sad, it has a negative connotation. Hope that helps. Cheers.

good example of connotations @wald0023
