PLEASE HELP WILL FAN AND MEDAL!!! I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THIS QUESTION! ATTACHING PIC:)
C
could you explain the steps to me?:)
step 1 : y^2 + 7y - 6 = 0
step 2: by using the equation for quadratic ax^2 + bx + c = 0 x1 = {-b + sqrt(b^2 - 4ac) }/2a x2 = {-b - sqrt(b^2 - 4ac) }/2a
could you explain step 2 to me a little more? whats sqrt?
so, y1 = { -7 + sqrt(49-24)/ 2 x 1}/ 2 x 1 = -1 y1 = { -7 - sqrt(49-24)/ 2 x 1}/ 2 x 1 = -6 there you go!
sqrt means something to the power 1/2
ok thank you so much!
i hve one more question, if i were ot put that in a calculator, how would i put sqrt in? @babu
sorry for keeping you so long lol @babu
@babu
what model do you use? it should look like this on a regular scientific calculator
ok so how would the whole thing look on a calculator? im trying to figure out how to put it in.. im using the same calculator as you right now. i dont know about the / and the sqrt. could you show me how it would look? like just out in the y1=.... stuff. THANK YOU SO MUCH :)
@babu sorry lol last thing and then I promise ill let ya go
@macabbey101 would you please tell me, which calculator do you use? i use a casia fx-991 ES please note that, you need a scientific calculator to solve a quadratic equation
