OpenStudy (yuii):

The population of a city is 451,400. The population is expected to decrease at a rate of 3.2% each year. What function equation represents the population of the city after t years? http://prntscr.com/dhgv8g

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Please note that #2 and #3 produce INcreases. Throw those out. What say you of the other two?

OpenStudy (yuii):

I was thinking it's D.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

That's a good guess, but it's deceptive With 0.032 in there, it's more a predictor of the number of people who leave, NOT the number of people remaining. 1 - 0.032 = 0.968 <== Now THAT is a better measure of who stays. See how that works?

OpenStudy (yuii):

So it's A, I assume?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

That's all there is left. More importantly, do you see how to judge that it is A?

OpenStudy (yuii):

Yes, I do. Thank you.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Awesome. Keep up the good work.
