Good essay? I was suppose to write a reflection paper based on this lecture. You don't have to watch it, let me know if my paper makes sense and if theres any grammer issues? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeTWmPl2FRI
The lecture that was given by Michio Kuku, talks about the future that is to come. He talks about interesting topics, such as, a contact lenses that can give you a profile of someone, or the fact that you can talk to your walls if you want to change its color. He talks about interesting physics concepts, and those concepts can change our future and possibly be the future of human evolution in a technological era rather than biological. Dr. kuku starts off his lecture talking about a bubble. Where we make so much money off something that it eventually leads to our own crash. Dr.Kuku referred to them as waves. This, in my opinion, is a foreshadow of our future and for mankind. We will eventually exceed over the limit, to the point where we reach our ultimate power that we will all crash. Which may come to the end of humanity. Humans are becoming lazier by the year. Dr. Kuku talks about how first there was the invention of steam power in the early 1800s which led to the crash of the 1850s. He talks about a bubble where humans achieve success to the point where they lead to their own crash. This has happened 3 times so far. The last crash was in 2008 because of real estate. The fourth bubble is yet to be created; the new bubble is predicted to be created by new upcoming technology. Dr. Kuku states that the future of the computer is going to everywhere and nowhere. Just as electricity and water is all around us; under the floors through our walls and over our heads, the same way the ‘computer’ will be. Our walls, floors and ceiling will all be intelligent. Instead of looking for a switch when walking into a room, we will now look for an internet portal which will allow us to communicate with our walls. Crazy, isn’t it? If you’re getting tired of your walls you can simply tell it to change colors. If you don’t like the view outside your window, you can simply tell your windows to change it to any view you want such as the Eiffel tower. On lonely Friday night, Dr. Kuku says, you can ask your wall to find you someone to spend your day with. We will also have special ‘glasses’ that will diminish our need to think, or use our brains at all. These glasses can give you the names of the person and a little back ground information. Dr. Kuku says, if you’re not sure who the important people are in a conference, these glasses will tell you exactly who to suck up to. If there is a language barrier between two people, these glasses will translate what the other person is saying into your language as subtitles. The need for learning other language will be gone. If glasses are not what you want, there are contact lenses where you can blink and go online. Everything will be right in front of your eyes, scripts, speeches etc. all in front of you. For example, if you are tourist in a country and you’re looking at ancient places. Your contact lenses will allow you to see the ruins of the place come to life. Also, say if someone went to get groceries for you and they usually buy the wrong things. Now with these contact lenses you can tap in to what their looking at and tell them exactly what to buy without even being there. The future of medicine and immortality seems closer than we thought. If now have the technology to re grow organs. If our liver is failing us, we can simply re grow one. Finding a cure for cancer seems approachable as well. They found an antidote that can kill each cancer cell one by one. Not only that, but your toilet can tell you if you have cancer or not as well. There will be tiny chips inside your toilet which can capture your DNA samples and tell you how long until you get cancer, or have cancers such as pancreases cancer; with this technology, Dr. Kuku says there won’t be such things as a tumor. There is more stuff that Dr. Kuku covers in his lecture, all of which are very fascinating and plain scary. The future is among us, in our life time. Humans will become lazy, and more carefree. This fourth wave, our bubble, will possibly be our last in my opinion. With all these advancements, we will find a way to crash and our own inventions will be the end of us. Thought that may take a long time before it happens, this is something that the past foreshadows. Too much of a good thing, is too much of a good thing.
