Find linear attenuation coefficient if the half value layer (HVL) is 1.37 cm of Pb?

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

anyone?

OpenStudy (sunnnystrong):

Okay so: \[HVL=\frac{ .693 }{ \upsilon }\] If HVL =1.37cm *Plug in and solve: attenuation coefficient = 0.505/cm

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

why you get 0.693?

got it!
