Please help me understand: A byte consists of eight bits, each bit being a 0 or 1. How many bytes end with three 1's or begin with two 0’s?

OpenStudy (pj754):

The answer is 2^5+2^6-2^3

OpenStudy (pj754):

And I understand where the 2^5 and 2^6 come from but I don't understand why you subtract out 2^3
